Autofocus D7000

Ik reageerde (gezien je quote) op "the long end", dus f/6.3
Ik vind dus een waardeloze test, ik lees goed, maar om daar een AF aan op te hangen/ of juist af te kraken. Zet een D300s, of om het even een camera tot € 1500 achter die lens en ze zullen qua AF ook slecht performen.

Maar terug naar de vraag. Ik las net de test van Thom over de camera en dit is wat hij zegt over het Af-systeem. Ik heb de neiging hem toch wel erg serieus te nemen.

Autofocus System
Surprise, surprise. This autofocus system is quite good (at least in normal shooting). It feels responsive, does well in low light (but not exceptionally well), and covers a nice wide area of the frame. Coupled with the new method of making autofocus settings, you should be able to get excellent performance in almost any condition with the mirror down. In basketball sessions, it did a very good job of following action, perhaps slightly better than the D300s, but definitely not quite up to the level of my D3s. But anyone up to a D90 user will be blown away with this new system, so it's a big win here. I've seen reports from others about being disappointed with active autofocus use, such as with birds in flight (BIF). I haven't been able to duplicate their problems, though I will note that you may need to adjust your settings if you're coming from another high-end camera. I found my optimal BIF settings for the D7000 to be slightly different than for my D300s.

Mirror up, well, that's another story. While Nikon touts the full-time contrast autofocus ability of the D7000, it's marginal in performance, at best. The D7000 is not going to replace your autofocus video camera. I consider the contrast AF to be a focus (slowly) once system, not a usable full time one. Yes, it's that bad. If you don't believe me, pick up a Panasonic GH2 and compare it side by side with the D7000 on moving subjects while recording a movie. It's a night and day difference.

Ik kwam hier terecht naar aanleiding van een ander draadje die over het fotograferen van honden gaat. Daar zag ik Rene een uitleg geven die totaal tegen mijn gevoel inging van hoe je het zou moeten doen (maar ja, hij maakt scherpe foto's van naar je toe rennende honden en ik niet ). Hij verwees naar Thom.... en dan kom je soms wat anders ook tegen .
