Photo Challenge Day 6
Alright, day 6! Almost at the end of our challenge. We felt like this would be the hardest day. Coming up with an interesting concept is one thing, but doing it without fail for a week is something else. This day was even harder since we would have very little time since we had many other things to do that day. Another added difficulty, while previously we managed to shoot between the spells of rain, it was raining hard during the little time we had to create this image.
Inspiration struck us when we thought of the old wedding dress we had wanted to use for a while and the skylight in the dining room we used to light our previous two photos. Sophie got up on the roof, next to the skylight, and I photographed her from downstairs through the skylight window, using manual focus to avoid the camera focusing on the drops of rain on the window.
The end result is something I really enjoy, reminiscent of the pictorialist photography style which was fashionable in the beginning of last century as a response to the ever increasing detail and realism that was possible in photography. It might not be quite true to the pictorialist artists I love like Stieglitz, Steichen or Eva Watson-Schütze, but I still very much like the dreamy and painterly feel to this image.
