Nik Software has announced Color Efex Pro 3.0 at Photo Plus Expo in New York. It's a new upgrade to the series of photographic filters for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Nik has also announced a new bundle that combines Nik Color Efex Pro 2.0 filters with Nikon's Capture NX photo editing software together for $299.95, a $30 savings.
New features in Color Efex Pro 3.0 include Nik's "U Point" technology for precise selective editing control, new and updated filters and a redesigned user interface.
With U Point, you can apply filters just to the specific areas of a photo that need to be modified. You don't need to go through the process of creating masks and layers.
Also new in this release is a Filter List organized by photography styles, a resizeable window that works better with large monitors, large before and after image previews, a Navigator Loupe and the ability to save favorite filter sets.
Look for Color Efex Pro 3.0 on store shelves in December, or available for download from Nik before then. It's available in three versions: The "Compete Edition" for $299.95, the "Select Edition" for $159.95 and the "Standard Edition" for $99.95.
